MULTIPULM - Integrated care digital-based interventions for multimorbid patients suffering from chronic respiratory conditions in Brazil, Serbia and Türkiye

MULTIPULM is a four-year Horizon Europe-funded initiative (August 2025-July 2029) bringing together leading research teams and institutions from 10 countries to improve integrated care for people living with chronic respiratory diseases and multimorbidities in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Through patient-centred digital tools, integrated care models, and real-world implementation in Brazil, Serbia, and Türkiye, the project aims to improve care coordination, reduce health inequalities, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of local healthcare systems.

As a consortium partner, Pharmecons plays a key role in the sustainability, business viability & upscaling of the MULTIPULM outcomes. It leads the health economic evaluation of the MULTIPULM tools, including cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses, and contributes to landscape analysis, exploitation planning, and implementation activities in the target countries, facilitating the sustainable adoption and scale-up of the project's innovations.

SHIELD - Comprehensive Surveillance of High-risk Individuals and Health Integration for Early detection of Pancreatic cancer utilising innovative multiplex immunoassays

SHIELD is a €14 million, four‑year Horizon Europe project (May 2025–April 2029). Across seven EU countries, it is validating a 5‑plex blood test (approximately 91–92% sensitivity and 96% specificity) for individuals at high risk of pancreatic cancer. The project will also pilot an early detection programme in Greece, Slovenia, and Lithuania. By improving early diagnosis, SHIELD aims to increase the five-year survival rate for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) from less than 10% to 30% by 2035.

Pharmecons serves as the health economics partner, leading the economic evaluation of the SHIELD surveillance programme and the new biomarker test through cost-effectiveness analyses. It also contributes to patient and stakeholder engagement activities, including patient focus groups, supporting the integration and sustainable uptake of SHIELD innovations.

HosmartAI - Innovative platform for robotics and AI technology integration

HosmartAI was a €12 million EU-funded project (January 2021 – May 2024) that brought together a multidisciplinary consortium comprising 3 large enterprises, 8 SMEs, 5 hospitals, 4 universities, 2 research centres, and 2 associations, supported by several additional organisations through Letters of Support. The project aimed to accelerate the digital transformation of healthcare systems by leveraging the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. To achieve this objective, HosmartAI developed a common open Integration Platform equipped with the tools needed to facilitate the integration of digital technologies into hospitals and care facilities and to assess their impact. Eight Large-Scale Pilots implemented and evaluated innovative AI- and robotics-based solutions across diverse healthcare settings, addressing medical diagnosis, surgical interventions, disease prevention and treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term care.

Pharmecons led the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) activities, evaluating the clinical, economic, organisational, and societal value of the innovations to support evidence-based decision-making and facilitate their sustainable adoption within healthcare systems. Despite the project's complexity, stemming from the diversity of technologies involved and the need for technology-specific assessment instruments and proof-of-concept evaluation, a comprehensive KPI framework was developed, covering the full spectrum of relevant outcomes across all pilot implementations.
