RESEARCH ASSISTANT IN HEALTH ECONOMICS

Applications are invited for this exciting opportunity to join a health economics and market access consultancy. We are seeking to employ a highly motivated researcher with experience in economic evaluation of health care and/ or population health interventions, and quantitative research methods. The post holder will work mainly on a European Horizon2020 project. There is the possibility for getting involved in other projects if/when necessary.
European Horizon 2020 HosmartAI is a program focusing on the use of digital technologies (robotics and Artificial Intelligent) in the health care system. HosmartAI brings together a consortium of 24 leading organizations across Europe (3 large enterprises, 8 SMEs, 5 hospitals, 4 universities, 2 research centres and 2 associations). Eight Large-Scale Pilots will implement and evaluate improvements in medical diagnosis, surgical interventions, prevention and treatment of diseases, and support for rehabilitation and long-term care in several Hospital and care settings due to the use of digital technologies. The project will target different medical aspects or manifestations such as Cancer, Gastrointestinal (GI) disorders; Cardiovascular diseases; Thoracic Disorders; Neurological diseases; Elderly Care and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation; Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR) and Prematurity. Pharmecons Easy Access will perform the economic evaluation alongside the 4 out of 8 pilots.
This is a 0.5 FTE, 3-year post with an annual gross salary of £26,000 (pro-rata). Starting in early 2021; fully home-based employment
  • Lead and implement the design and analyses of health economic evaluations for all the pilots that will be undertaken in Horizon2020 program
  • Coordinate with the partners of the consortium across Europe and throughout the project lifespan to ensure timely and successful cooperation for the necessary data collection
  • Support and advise other researchers on appropriate choices of economic methods for evaluation of research projects
  • Provide support, whenever deemed necessary, to other members of the team on a per project basis.
  • Contribute to/ lead the development and delivery of activities and outputs (e.g. conference presentations, manuscript writing)
  • Identify and share important, generic, transferable methods which will be incorporated into future projects and advance health economic research methodology

  • Ensure confidentiality on all matters and information obtained during the course of employment
  • MSc or PhD in Health Economics or equivalent research experience
  • At least 2-5 years of prior work experience in the field
  • In depth knowledge of economic evaluations alongside various trial designs, patient-level data analysis of costs and health outcomes
  • Adept at using data management and analysis software, such as Excel and Stata
  • Ability to manage, manipulate and analyse large and complex data sets
  • Ability to manage time, appropriately prioritise workload and work to deadlines across several tasks
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary and multi-professional team
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
